April blog

Total hours: 24 hours

This month hours: 14

This was such a rewardful month and exciting way to end the semester. I spent 2 hours with ACEing autism, and the rest of my time was spent at the homeless shelter. I aim to continue to volunteer for the homeless shelter because the community is great with the other volunteers. Every time I go there all of the volunteers tell me their stories and I love hearing them. The most recent time I went, the other volunteers was part of the Women's Marines Association, and they were discussing how they had been in the military since high school and just retired. Other stories I heard were volunteers explaining they started working here after being in jail and then reconnecting with God so they can change their life around. I relate with connecting with God to change for the better so hearing their stories was amazing to hear.

Now academically speaking this month was also great. I ended the semester with all my desired grades and felt very relieved that my hard work paid off. I had heavy presentation-based weeks, but it was all manageable. I truly am grateful for this program and all the faculty that aided in the journey. I am better prepared to take the MCAT, decipher scientific articles, and in general better prepared for medical school content. Especially, I have seen cellular control concepts come up in MCAT questions and due to Neuropharmacology, I can read passages more efficiently. Truly the best program I could have chosen to sharpen myself professionally and academically.
